There is one major change on the horizon and that is the notion 3d printing changing online shopping. This may have you asking a few questions already? How exactly can 3d printers change the way I shop online???

The change could be dramatic and could spell bad news for delivery companies. In short, the consumer would buy their product online and instead of waiting 24 hours for it to fall through the letterbox, it would simply be sent to your 3d printer and the product will appear magically in front of your eyes.

Amazon amongst others have made large investments in 3d printing over the last 12 months, opening their own 3d printer store in America. If this 3d printing fantasy were to become reality then Amazon could reduce their stock to almost nothing allowing them to save on warehouse costs. Of course, we would all need a £500 printer at home before 3d printing will change online shopping in this way. Nevertheless it remains possible and as CDs and DVDs are phased out in favour of digital files it might not be out of the question that everyday tools and toys could be next.
